Nighttime Newborn Care (NNC)
The one thing every new parent needs is sleep and getting up with a newborn every couple of hours is exhausting. Whether juggling other children, careers, and/or schooling, it is crucial for parents to have the right support in the newborn period. Access to nighttime newborn care can improve recovery time, strengthen parental relationships, decrease risk for postpartum depression, support healthy breastfeeding, and set your growing family up for success. .
Nighttime Newborn Care (NNC) means that your care providers will arrive at your home and stay through the night, typically in 8-12 hour shifts. There is an 8 hour minimum to schedule, however no minimum number of nights required.
During the night, your newborn care provider will keep a log of sleeping, feeding, and diaper changes, while implementing the schedule that works best for your family. If breastfeeding, the care provider will bring your baby to their mother when it's time to feed, as well as assist with latching or pumping if needed. The care providers may also administer some or all of the overnight feeds using expressed (pumped) breast milk or formula.
